LITERACY IS THE SUREST AND THE MOST EFFECTIVE MEANS TO TRUE EDUCATION SAYS MR `LAOLU ALOBA (INITIATOR OF MAY FOUNDATION)

Computer Literacy, knowledge and an understanding of computers combined with the ability to use them effectively. On the least specialized level, computer literacy involves knowing how to turn on a computer, start and stop simple application programs, and save and print information. At higher levels, computer literacy becomes more detailed, involving the ability of the “power users” to manipulate complex applications and, possibly, to program in languages such as BASIC or C.
According to the Initiator of COMPUTER LITERACY CENTER, Mr `Laolu Aloba (MAY FOUNDATION), the lack of widespread basic computer literacy poses a fundamental challenge for developing nations.  Literacy rates increased from about 60 percent of the world’s population in 1970 to 77.4 percent in 1995. However, due to the rapid increase of the world’s overall population, the number of illiterate people has also grown. We are determine to train young Nigerian and other nationals to attain their full potential and develop the high level of professionalism needed to perform excellently in their future careers and to be useful, productive and responsible members of the society.
The mission of the COMPUTER LITERACY CENTER according to Mr `Laolu Aloba (MAY FOUNDATION), provide a balanced programme that will enhance and empower the development of appropriate computer skills (literacy) and creativity in youths to enable them participate fully in the socio-economic engineering of their nations in the future.
The campaign for a COMPUTER LITERACY CENTER needs the support of well meaning individuals and widespread public support for reasons that include considerations of literacy as a fundamental human right and as a prerequisite for modern development and democracy. Literacy campaigns have mandated compulsory education for children as the basic method to combat illiteracy in developing nations.

In honest hands, literacy is the surest and the most effective means to true education. In dishonest hands, it may be a most dangerous, in fact a suicidal, acquisition. World Literacy Rates of 2005 says   Nigeria literacy rate is 70.7 percent (Male -77.8 percent and Female-63.8 percent). The future of the world to develop lies in the hands of every one of us and the decisions of today will be the solution for a bright rewarding future. The COMPUTER LITERACY CENTER is a breeding ground for development of skills and enlightenment. Join us as we create the lasting impression for successful youths in our society.
